Learn how to use this beautiful golden heritage grain

Learn how to use this beautiful golden heritage grain! Many people who are gluten intolerant turn to this grain as it is much lower in gluten, easier to digest, good for your gut and is a super healthy grain! This is a very popular loaf at the bakehouse.

You will mill the grain, before learning to bake a beautiful sunflower seed & honey spelt loaf, Spelt Seeded Crackers and Spelt sweet biscuits.

10am-1pm

Spelt & heritage Grains

You will have a warm welcome to Kitty Witch Bakehouse situated in Paula’s garden. You will start your morning off with a fresh coffee or tea and a little homemade treat before embarking on this informative class. Showing you how to enjoy the ancient spelt grain to make a delicious sunflower and honey loaf. We will mill the grain and discuss the benefits of spelt and other heritage grains, before making spelt crackers and biscuits. In this class we will consider how using Mindfulness as a practice when making bread can benefit your mind, body and soul.

10am: Welcome and an introduction to using spelt & heritage grains

10:30am: We will discuss the use of Mindfulness and being present in the art of bread making. You will mill your own grain, understand the benefits of this and make your own spelt loaf

11:30am: We will move into making spelt crackers and baking them in the oven

12pm: I will show you the best way to bake your spelt loaf whilst we have some refreshments and taste our crackers with a homemade dip

12:15pm We will make up our sweet spelt biscuits whilst your loaf is baking and have more time to discuss heritage grains and the benefits to the environment

1:15pm: Taste our spelt loaf and look at the texture, taste and smell. Appreciating where our ingredients have come from

2:30pm: Sharing other spelt recipes and ideas. Before you go home with your freshly baked spelt, crackers and biscuits
